West Virginia Public Broadcasting Website Redesign
West Virginia Public Broadcasting (WVPB)’s website resembled generic NPR sites, focusing solely on news while ignoring other departments. The platform struggled with multiple media types and lacked easy backend management. DR redesigned the site to uniquely highlight all WVPB services, provide a seamless media experience and enable staff to manage content easily.
The Goal
The website needed to uniquely showcase all WVPB services beyond news, delivering a seamless user experience across multiple media types — content, video, audio, radio, and podcasts — while enabling easy staff content management.
The Strategy
Clean, intuitive navigation and Material Design System prioritized user experience across diverse media types. Custom players accommodated all formats. A mobile-first approach, high-contrast typography and custom migration tools enabled easy staff content management.
The Results
The redesigned site launched successfully, delivering significant improvements in traffic and user engagement. Visitors spent considerably more time on the platform, and overall engagement rates demonstrated substantial growth, validating the user-centered design approach.
