Digital Relativity turns 15 this year, and I’m not quite sure how I ended up in such a sweet spot.
When I joined this team in 2011, I was looking for growth and change. I was ready to shake up what I thought my life had to look like. I wasn’t entirely sure what I was getting into, but I was excited about the vision Pat had for DR. It turned out that vision was about much more than the work itself.
What we’ve built here is intentional and on purpose. From the beginning, we’ve worked to see people as their whole selves, not just their job functions. That wasn’t an accident. It’s a choice we keep making, year after year.
Fifteen years is no small feat, and we’ve been through our share of ups and downs. The pride I have in this team and in our work is something I can’t adequately put into words. What most people don’t see is the humanity that runs through this agency every day. This is a team that shows up for each other in ways both big and small: getting to know each other’s families, trading dog-sitting favors, sharing hand-me-downs and coming to the rescue with a car jump or an airport ride. We step in to support each other so that work and life both feel manageable.
Over 15 years, we’ve shared early mornings and late nights, built lifelong friendships and truly gotten to know one another. We’ve laughed together, weathered a global pandemic together and watched children be born, graduate and accomplish their dreams. We’ve celebrated incredible milestones and adventures, and stood beside each other through illness, family losses, caregiving responsibilities and some of the hardest moments life can throw at a person.
We’ve had the opportunity to work alongside some of the most talented, kind and smart people in the business. Along the way, we’ve built trust, camaraderie and partnerships that give this work real meaning. Every day, this team shows up ready to support each other, help our partners and do the very best they can.
If you have to work (and let’s face it, most of us do), shouldn’t you do what’s in your power to make that workplace one of mutual respect, care, support and fun? That’s what we’ve tried to build here at DR. We’re not perfect, but we know who we are. We know this approach is right for us and for the partners who trust us with their work.
For the third consecutive year, we’ve been named to the Inc. Best Workplaces list, and I’m especially proud of that recognition. Because it is based entirely on employee surveys and feedback collected independently by Inc., it reflects the honest perspective of our team and how they experience working here. That means everything.
Here’s to 15 years, and to every person who made them matter.
