WV Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation Hiring Campaign

In response to a critical staffing shortage declared by Governor Jim Justice on August 11, 2022, the West Virginia Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation (WVDCR) launched a major recruitment campaign. With over 1,100 vacancies, a $21 million funding package was signed into law in September 2023, providing increased starting salaries, pay raises, and one-time bonuses. Partnering with WV Commerce Communications and Jobcase, DR developed a comprehensive campaign to attract new correctional officers to stabilize the WVDCR workforce. Since launching the campaign, WVDCR has significantly reduced staffing vacancies by nearly 40%.
